About Us
Back in 2002 Ruth Tott grabbed the chance of redundancy from Farmers Guardian newspaper to start her own publishing and book retailing company, Farming Books and Videos. In 2005 her husband, Paul Melnyczuk, joined the company as fellow Director so that they could concentrate 100% on building up the buiness that had already taken over much of their lives, (not to mention the garage and the spare room).
In 2007 we threw away our name (sorry, it's called rebranded) changing it to The Good Life Press as this gave us 'wings' as they say. We have both our accountant and friend, John Stokes, and a friend, Tom Clark to thank for giving us the kicking and encouragement to rebrand, put together an ambitious publishing programme as well as launch Home Farmer Magazine which we gave 'birth to' in April 2008.
Later in 2008 Rachel joined The Good Life Press as Publishing Assistant and, like us, she rolls up her sleeves and packs books ready for the post, takes telephone orders as well as sets books ready for printing and she even makes the occasional cup of coffee.
We must acknowledge the wonderful editing skills of Paul Peacock and Diana Sutton who really have thrown themselves into Home Farmer and the creative magic of Chris Charles from One Design for helping us produce this very fine publication.
