This book takes a trip down memory lane and shows you how to revert to good old-fashioned cooking and cleaning in a bid to cut pollution and unnecessary spending. The underlying message throughout the book is that all too often, what we buy in the supermarket is too expensive, too polluting and too ineffectual. Paul Peacock hopes you will leave the HP sauce and toothpaste on the shelf and make your own. Don’t let the eco-warrior, let’s save the planet stance put you off, as this book is a wealth of information. Recipes include everything from simple jams and relishes through to baked beans. For drinks fanatics there is a section on home brewing and ready for the spring clean, the book goes on to explain how to make your own oven cleaner, polish and washing powder.
